Mermaid Jewelrys

It started that day, when i in the 2012 spring visited my mother in my mothers house. She wanted to show me something and pulled out a shelf. There was a little box inside the shelf. Where there were some tiny white curved porcelain. It was otoliths from a fish, that she have played with 80 years ago. Otoliths from fish, where in her mind sugar cubes, that you could buy in one of my moms local shops. I got curious and wanted to buy a fish to find those otoliths my self. I found lots of otoliths and fish bones, that had some different and interesting shapes.

Today i design various jewelry etc. brooches and earrings made out of all kinds of different fish. In the future i will begin making more designs such as, necklaces and bracelets.

Mermaid jewelry is a series of unique earrings and brooches that’s made out of fish bones.

The fish I use live in the seas that surround Denmark but it’s also fish you can buy in a shop.

The bones are painted and lacquered several times to stabilize them.

Though the jewelry can be fragile sens the bones varies in strenght. So some jewelry may be fragile, while others might not.

Several of the Mermaid Jewelry I combine with stones such as: Citrine, Peridot. Labradorite, Malachite, Garnet, Aventurine, Onyx, Rose Quartz, Agate, Topaz, Amber, Amethyst, Rock Crystal, Coral, Turquoise, Carnelian, Sodalite, Varicit , Aquamarine, Opals
